Progesterone and pregnancy rate

The influence of progesterone on the pregnancy rate

A recently published study examined whether the progesterone level measured on the day of ovulation provides a prediction of the expected pregnancy rate.

Several studies had suggested this.

It could clearly be shown that, if the progesterone level on the „trigger day“ is above 1.5 ng/ml, the pregnancy rate is significantly reduced. The study design allowed to attribute this to the progesterone-induced maturation of the uterine lining and not to a reduction in the quality of the eggs.

The authors recommend freezing all cells and embryo transfer in a subsequent natural cycle in the event of a progesterone increase.
