Ovulation suppression

Efficacy of alternative methods of ovulation suppression (indomethacin)
It has been known for years that women who take anti-inflammatory medications (anti-inflammatory agents) during their menstrual cycle have a lower pregnancy rate (SRR), which is due to a disruption in the processes that ultimately lead to ovulation.
This fact can be exploited during IVF the natural cycle. After all, one does not have to resort to expensive birth control medications here. The effectiveness has been studied by a Canadian research team.
Retrospectively, cycles of about 200 women were compared who had either received indomethacin or not.
| Results: | With Indomethacin | Without Indomethacin |
| Premature ovulation | 6 % | 16 % |
| Oocyte harvesting / puncture | 76 % | 64 % |
| Klin. SSR | 21 % | 14 % |
The results therefore seem to indicate that, especially with NC IVF treatment using indomethacin, the success rate per treatment can be increased.
