Rest period after insemination
Does a rest period after insemination have an effect on the pregnancy rate?
08.03.2010
A 2009 study published in the British Medical Journal (Inge Custers, Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam) compared the SSR of women who got up immediately after insemination with that of women who were given a 15-minute rest period.
The indication for treatment, the age of the women and the average sperm quality were the same.
The rate of pregnancies that were carried to term was
in the first group 10 %(in the 2nd and 3rd cycles, 7% each)
In the second group there were only 7% (in the 2nd and 3rd cycles, 5% each).
The conclusion of the working group: Allowing the female patients to rest for 15 minutes after insemination is logistically feasible, even with a high patient throughput in a specialized clinic, and highly recommended due to the higher SSRs.
